Fiber cement siding is a building material used to cover the exterior of a building in both commercial and domestic applications. Fiber cement siding is a composite material made of sand, cement and cellulose fibers. In appearance fiber cement cladding most often consists of overlapping horizontal boards, imitating wooden cladding, clapboard and imitation shingles. Fiber cement siding is also manufactured in a sheet form and is used not only as cladding but is also commonly used as a soffit / eave lining and as a tile underlay on decks and in bathrooms.

- By using fly ash in our product, nearly 100,000 tons of this material is diverted from landfills each year. Recycling fly ash also lessens the demand for virgin materials that would require quarrying, and substitutes for materials that may be energy-intensive to create, such as Portland cement.

 Many CertainTeed roofing products are manufactured with pre- and post-consumer recycled content including slag, stone granules, corrugated mixed paper and sludge. The overall pre- and post-consumer recycled content of our roofing products is between 1-50%. Integrating these materials into our products reduces landfill waste and carbon emissions.- CertainTeed diverts over 250,000 tons/year of slag, stone granules, corrugated mixed paper and sludge from landfills by recycling this material into our products.
- In addition to landfill waste reduction, the use of recycled materials in our products reduces the release of CO2 from the extraction and processing of virgin raw materials that are used to manufacture the roofing products.
